Born and raised in eastern Iowa, Nathan Deters is the resident transplant of the team. A graduate of Kirkwood College, he double majored in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management. Nathan attained his first sous chef position at the age of 20 and his first executive chef position at age 21. After relocating to Kansas City, he worked in many different sectors of the industry, from casual to fine dining, and most recently in corporate dining. When serving as executive chef at North Italia, Chef Nathan developed a passion for Italian cuisine that he is excited to bring to Va Bene.
